History of the Bus

In 1981 following the withdrawal of the bus service that ran from Coggeshall via Kelvedon there followed lengthy research and discussions, a committee was setup under the auspices of the Coggeshall Parish Council and it was decided to purchase a used 16 seater Bedford Dormobile vehicle to run a community bus service.

The Community Bus Service commenced on the 1st of February 1982, with the inaugral morning service to Kelvedon Station.

The service proved very popular indeed, and after six years in 1988 a new Ford bus entered service, to replace the now ageing Bedford vehicle.

In 1991, the Coggeshall Parish Council decided that it no longer wanted to handle the running of the Coggeshall Community Bus, so a registered Limited company (Coggeshall Community Bus Limited) was setup, and the bus and all other assets were transferred over to the new company, which would take over full responsibilty for the future operation of the service.

In 1993, a new bus was purchased to replace the existing Ford Vehicle
In  1998 a new Ford minibus was purchased to replace the existing Ford vehicle.

In 2004 our first Mercedes Sprinter bus was purchased.
