The Coggeshall Community Bus is a unique service run and operated totally by volunteers. The bus provides morning and evening runs to and from Kelvedon railway station, as well as local midday runs to provide an invaluable transport link around Coggeshall. The bus operates on a not-for-profit basis, and is completely self financing. The current air conditioned Mercedes vehicle entered service in September 2017.
New £2 fare now applies
For the first time in over 11 years, we need to increase the fare for the Kelvedon station service. Effective from 4th April, the fare will rise to £2 per journey.
Over the past 11 years we have absorbed continual increases in our operational costs, but now with a significant downturn in passenger numbers (and thus, income) since pre-pandemic days and the climbing inflation rate as well as the spike in the price of fuel and fixed out-goings (such as regular vehicle safety checks, insurance, repairs and garaging), we have no option but to increase our fares.
We hope that you will understand why we have had to make this very difficult decision and thank you for your continuing support of the Bus and the team of drivers and other volunteers that keep this community service going.
